The Performance Coaching Certificate Program is tailored to your organizations needs. It is a Three Step model involving Basic and Advanced training sessions and a Supervised Practicum in between using distance education technology. Step 1 focuses on coaching individuals and small teams while Step 3 aims at coaching larger groups and using coaching in performance based management environments.

Step 1 - Basic Performance Coaching Techniques - 2 day workshop

The Basic Performance Coaching Techniques workshop will provide an introduction to coaching as a leadership and management style of thinking and behaving. It will introduce and lead the learner to the value and uses of coaching in organizations. It will include an exploration of the strategies and specific behaviors of that successful coaches use to lead and support others in organizational development.

Upon completion of this workshop participants will be able to: 

1. Move Your Leadership Style to Performance Coaching: 
Explain the role of a coach? 
Describe how we move to value based leadership 
Detail how is coaching like stewardship 
Demonstrate how credibility is related to knowing your people 
Explain the paradox of power 
Model how we can assist others to explore new leadership styles 
Demonstrate how to increase commitment and enable others to act as a team

2. Coach During Transitions
Explain how we problem solve with individuals in a crisis environment 
Describe how a coach observes and collects useful information

Step 2 - Supervised Performance Coaching Practicum 

The Supervised Performance Coaching Practicum uses a Distance Learning Environment [DLE] Model so that each participant will, in consultation with the Facilitator: 
Design a Personal Performance Coaching Practicum to be carried out in the workplace over a period of 3-6 months. This Practicum would be within the scope of the individual's regular duties and provide a specific planned opportunity to practice the application of the coaching skills from the Level I Workshop with either an individual or team based focus.
Maintain a Journal of their use and progress in coaching.
Participate in Coaching Skills Team Meetings [6-8 members] who meet periodically [monthly] to review their Practicum progress, brainstorm strategies and provide mutual support to each other’s learning. 
Utilize a distance education On Line Support Service provided by the Training Facilitator who would be available to provide coaching to each Team, as well as, to individuals by E-mail and / or telephone linkages. 



Step 3 - Advanced Performance Coaching Techniques - 2 day workshop 

The Advanced Performance Coaching Techniques workshop provides an opportunity for participants to apply their coaching skills to more in-depth organizational challenges. They will consider the use of coaching to enhance team performance, improve supervision and deal with the special challenges that organizations face as they move closer to performance based management systems. As well, they will be able to self evaluate their coaching skill development and make plans for continuous learning.
